The Iverson Home
Jenny Iverson chose to become a foster parent because I have had a love for animals all my life. I have always been one to try to save the local stray, or bring home a puppy without talking to my parents. Animals have always been a great love for me. For many years I have had a couple cats that I obtained for my son when he was little. I always wanted another dog but didn't think my cats could handle it. I became a volunteer for SAFE and one day saw a picture of a dog I KNEW had to be mine. So I adopted him. The next thing you know I was bring home additional Furbabies that needed help as well. That is how I became a foster parent for the orphan furbabies.

ReplyDeleteI have learned a lesson in Fostering. It has been an experience that I will never forget. As I struggled to re-rehabilitate a Pup that was abused and abandoned, I fell for this little girl name Sage. I had worked with her, gained her trust, and had taught her to trust others as well. After 8 months of training, Sage was adopted and went to use her skills that she learned. This was the HARDEST foster I have had so far, in the sense of letting go. I cried for hours. I still tear up when I think about her. I loved her so much. But I knew in my heart that this was what was supposed to happen. This is what I trained her for... for this moment... for this opportunity to go to her forever home. Only it was very difficult for me to imagine her forever home being anywhere but MY home. So I vowed that I would give her this chance with someone who wanted to lover her as much as me. And if it did not work, I would take her back and keep her forever. :)
ReplyDeleteLife of a Foster... We wear our hearts on our sleeves, we cry at times, we are happy at times, we are scared at times, and we are faced with tough decisions. But we will ALWAYS love!
Patty Caron wrote a wonderful post on Facebook about this. It really meant the world to me, even though it made me cry. Here is the post:
We have a foster mom who has dedicated herself and her time into rehabbing Sage. Sage came to SAFE as a very badly abused older puppy. She was terrified of people, hated kids, teenage boys, basically everyone. If approached she would bite...not out of aggression, it was her only safety net. Sage has been with us for a very long time and Jennifer Iverson never gave up on her. Tomorrow, Sage will begin a new phase in her life, Sage is getting adopted. Its going to be rough at first, Sage does not bond easily but her new foster dad is pretty determined to make this work, and with patience and love we know it can. Jenny is sad and happy, its hard to let go of a dog that you have worked so had on but she is letting fate play out. We all hope and pray for the best for Sage, that she will bond and love her foster dad as much or more as she has Jenny. If for any reason it doesn't work...Sage will come back and it has been decided that she will have a forever home here....Jenny loves her...Our prayers will be that Sage does Jenny proud though and thrives in her new life with her new dad. Happy endings...and great job Jenny, this is what fostering is about...to save the ones that without you had not chance.
