Our current fosters: Hannah & her puppies

We have had Hannah and her 7 puppies for about 3 weeks now. The puppies eyes weren't even open yet when they came to us and Hannah was extremely timid and shy.  Since then Hannah has become more trusting and less timid.  she is a wonderful momma!  The pups are getting bigger and their eyes are open and they are all over the place.  Hannah is starting to takes more breaks from her pups, and the pups are starting to eat puppy food.  They are to say the least just adorable!  Unfortunately there was 1 pup who was not as well as the others.  I am so saddened to say that we had to let this little guy named Joey go over the rainbow bridge to heaven.  He had started having breathing problems and we also questioned whether or not he could see.  We took him to the vets and found out that yes he can see but an x-ray revealed that he also had an enlarged heart and a significant heart murmur.  This was a birth defect and was not sure anything could be done for him.  We took him home, he was started on an antibiotic in case there was an infection.  He did fine through the night and morning.  At 1:00 pm I noticed his breathing had become really difficult and he couldn't find a comfortable position to lay down in.  We brought him back to the vet to have him looked at.  There was nothing that could be done the murmur had worsened and he was having a hard time breathing.  We decided to let him go run and play in heaven.
